Do's and Dont's with trigger fish

Since my huma huma trigger attacked my fire shrimp, what else should I not put in this tank that the huma might consider a nice lunch?

Isn't the huma suppose to be the lesser aggressive out of all of the triggers?

I guess it's still going to be a little aggressive... all of my turbo snails aren't so turbo anymore. They haven't moved in 4 days and my poor narsasis snail is nowhere to be found.

Huma's definitely aren't the least aggressive trigger. Your better off with a Xanthichthys Genus trigger. The bluethroat, crosshatch, sargassum. I've had a bluethroat before, left my clean up crew alone. You'll need to upgrade from a 50g regardless of what trigger you go with, huma or not.

Pretty much all crabs, shrimp and snails. Also, sea stars, brittlestars, and sea urchins are a possible meal.

Nope Xanthichthys and Melichthys triggers are both generally less aggressive than Rhinecanthus triggers (which includes the huma).

You can count on a huma taking out most motile inverts. They'll also often much on corals, hard and soft, and other things you'd like to keep. It's also a bad idea to keep them with lionfish.

As before he's pretty much a no-no with any corals or inverts. Same is true for any smaller or more docile fish. As I said in the other thread, in a 50 he will probably be all you can keep in there. Also, watch your hands when he gets a little bigger, they can inflict a serious bite. A guy at the LFS I frequent was rearranging a holding tank containing a medium sized 5-7" Huma and it just barely nipped him because he yanked his hand out just as the Huma lunged to bite. Unfortunately, that was still enough to draw blood. If the trigger had delivered a full pressure bite, we would have had to take him to the ER. They get some pretty wicked teeth and I imagine they could easily remove a finger.
