I have read that dosing baking soda to keep the ph stable while doing hyposalinty is a good idea.
The first 3 days I dose about 1 drop per 5 seconds. The ph was stable at around 7.7 so I decided to bump it to 1 drop per 3 seconds. The next day the ph went up to 8.4 and the whole tank glass sides, bottom, and the powerhead where covered up in baking soda residue. So far the fishes are eating fine, but I am concerned. Any advice?
I used 1/2 pound of baking soda per gallon.
