Dosing Kh

I've been using the RS Foundations and keeping my Kh @ 11-12. It's come to my attention that NO ONE else is anywhere near that. I have a mixed tank and have had great growth from softies, LPS and SPS. The average I can find for a mixed tank is 8-9 dKh. My question is, how to I figure out how much I'm using to know what to dose. I don't have a dosing pump so it will be likely a twice a day dose. I have the RS foundation B buffer for now, not sure how to figure out what each ml of it will increase my 28 gal nano.

Test each day and find out how much it's dropping. That's how much you need to add back in. How many sps do you have?

Quite a few. I have 3 or so acros, a milli, 2 chalices, some montis, stylo, birds nests, blastos, and a maxi clam. The Red Sea buffer raises alk 0.1 per 1 ml in 100 l (26.4 gal). So i guess test at as close to exactly the same time for a week and see what it uses? What is the lowest I can let my alk get? Today @ 9 am it was at 10.1 and I did not add any supplement.

Daily testing for a while to see what your consumption is, then you can back off a bit once you get the feel for it. If stonies explode in growth, or coralline algae really takes off, then expect the consumption to increase. I think alk 8-10 is pretty normal for me, some run a touch higher and some with near zero levels of N&P run a bit lower. Main thing is to not raise or lower alkalinity too fast as your stonies will get ticked off and suffer from alk burn on the tips.

This is a pretty typical test result for me. I use a Hanna Po4 meter but it's not the ULR, so I'm sure I have traces of Po4. My Calc is usually 440-460 and Mag 1320-1360
