Dosing Prime during Tank Transfer Method

I am currently into the 2nd day of the TTM. I dosed Prime after getting a positive ammonia reading...I think I may have overfed a bit.

How long does the affects of Prime last??

I thought I remember reading somewhere that it has a quick half life, and can be dosed every 24 hours.

I think I may just dose prime every day when I get into the second set of tank transfers. Even though I use a seeded sponge, I may not have been in my sump long enough.

How often are you feeding during TT? How many fish per tank? I typically only feed once per transfer and have never had to dose prime.

I am currently transferring 1 Gold Assessor Basslet and 1 Fighting conch that I got from Live Aquaria. That tanks are 10g...which I usually fill up with like 8 gallons of water.

I was feeding once per day, but only starting on day 2. I have noticed that on day 1 the fish are usually so stressed, that the likelihood of them eating once thrown into the tank is just a waste.

The last time I did the TTM, I would feed them good on like day 2.5, then immediately transfer into a new tank, so that way there was no fish waste in the new tank.

This is only the second time I have done the TTM, so I am still a new at it. From this point forward I will never introduce a new fish without doing the TTM first.

Be sure to never transfer transport water into a tank that is being used for tank transfer. Use a colander or equivalent.
