Dosing pump advice: Please help!

I'm having a lot of bad luck with dosing pumps in the last few years and I don't know what to do right now. My reef depends on 3 channels to dose NaHco3, CaCl and mineralsalt.

First I had the Jebao. It operated just fine for three months, then it dumped my whole 5 liters worth of NaHco3 in my aquarium when I was at work. Lots a few corals there, but most survived. I was lucky I could intervene in time. Received a new motherboard from the seller. Operated fine again for a year. Then the pump head of my first (most used NaHco3) channel started to wear. The dosing became very unreliable and varied in quantity from day to day. Got rid of the doser.

Then I got the GHL. It was supposed to much MUCH better. (Even though the pump heads looked, felt and sounded just as flimsy as the Jebao.) Operated fine for two years, then started to have the same problems as the Jebao. The motor was worn out.

Then I got the Aqua Trend Doser One Evolution. Now those pump heads looked like true quality! Very nice and very different. The pump heads do not rely on friction, like the previous two dosers that I had. And the heads needed to be lubricated every two months to extend life. The dosing was very consistent. But now I'm having problems with the most used channel again. The pump is having trouble starting. I hear it click, but can't turn the head. I can get it started when I give it a push though. So, I'm also chalking this up wear.

What am I doing wrong here? Am I simply asking to much from such little motors? Is 150ml of fluid per day to much to dose for an aquarium doser? I was this part of my hobby more worry-free.

Just replace the head/motor when they start to go. It's like anything mechanical, you'll need to service it from time to time. GHL makes replacement motors that you can drop in yourself. I'm not sure why you got rid of the GHL, what version did you have, Doser 2? Did you ever try to replace a head on the previous units?

Yes, I replace a motor once on the GHL. Still proved unreliable. My KH was going op and down like a rollercoaster even after the motor replacement.

I'm reading up on reactors now. I'm starting to think they're a lot less maintenance and more reliable.
