Dosing pump and containers position

Hello,

Setting my dosing pump up over the weekend, it has now come to the time in eed to start dosing alk to keep up with tank requirements.

Do the dosing containers need to be above the doser or below or does it not matter?

My doser containers and doser are going into another room, does it matter if it sits above the tank or below.

Thanks

I guess it depends on your dosing unit but to prevent any possible siphon it would be safest to have the dosing reservoir below the bottom of the dosing outlet lines with the dosing unit higher than either.

Having said this in my case my DOS dosing heads are located above my dosing reservoir but the outlet line is below the dosing reservoir. So I am trusting the DOS pumps not to fail. In my case I can't really change this due to it's location in my stand.

While the design of a peristaltic pump typically prevents a siphon forming as its completely pinching the tubing closed this is not guaranteed.
The same protection from a siphon should be incorporated with dosing pumps.

As the rollers/motor/tubing wears and goes out of adjustment a siphon could be created causing the solution to either go into the tank or back into the container depending on the setup/location (heights) of each
