I just do weekly 10% water changes mixed with IO at 1.026 . I do add AquaVitro Fuel twice a week and have had no hair algae outbreaks since doing this . I did have a hair algae outbreak no too long ago but fluconazole took care of that and now this is my regimen ! I was not using Fuel when I did have my algae outbreak , it was my lax on water changes ! My fault .

I have two systems and both are Biocubes , one is the original Oceanic 29 gal. and the newer one is the 14 gal. Coralife .

Mrs wage's pickling lime (kalkwasser) for alk and Ca.

Baking soda for alk.

Drs foster and smith CaCl for Ca.

Don't worry about pH. pH "buffers" only raise alk.

Water changes and fish food for trace elements.

I never understood how a water change will help with alk and calc

...because makeup water will have desired levels of alk and Ca...

Kent marine coral vite in my 25 gallon lagoon. I alternate dosing with water changes every other week.
Other tank, 100 gallon using fauna marine balling light trace elements mixed in my home made 2 part (Randy Holmes Recipe). No water change until I feel necessary ( which means every 6-8 months).
Happy with both methods and setup. I would say 100 gallon looks litter better than 25 gal.

Epsom Salt, Kalkwasser & Baking Soda seems to do the trick for me. (Magnesium, Calcium & Alkalinity)

I'm not too worried about pH or trace elements. A quality salt mix should have plenty of these & pH is not really a crucial parameter. There's a wide range that's acceptable.
