Dosing with iodine

I am starting to put a few corals in my tank and it says to dose with iodine. is the iodine sold over the counter at drug stores same as the iodine sold in LFS?

iodine dosing is generally not indicated, especially if you're not testing iodine levels. seawater levels are fine, so your salt mix should provide sufficient amounts. depletion of iodine, and other trace elements, is most easily and safely handled with regular water changes.

I would not suggest dosing with Iodine. In fact I would suggest not dosing with anything you cannot test for.
