I doubled my frag count last night and did not even spend a dime! How? Well, the "Three Stooges" visited my house last night. :eek1:
My tank has been up and running for about 3 months. Everything seems stable I have added several SPS frags and had three more to mount. I started my tank with some LR I had that was virtually devoid of coralline algae, but I got a few pieces of small coralline covered rock, crush them and let the pieces blow all through the tank. Coralline has started to grow but not very fast. So I decided to pick up a TOTALLY COVERED purple piece of LR from the LFS.
I found the perfect place for it and that's when the comedy of errors began. I had to move a shelf rock that had a small colony bird nest that was small and brown a few weeks ago when I got it. Now it is bright pink and almost doubled in size. The rock fell against the glass and the the bird's nest split in two. Panic set in and I tried to prevent any other damage and like slow motion frags began to break and pop off everywhere as rocks began to shift and tumble. :eek2:
Spent 2 hour remounting and gluing frags. My count has double for FREE. LOL
Woke this morning waiting to find white skeletons everywhere, but to my surprise everything looks good.
My wife knowing nothing about the hobby says "Well, they have storms on coral reefs don't they? You just had a storm!"
Another story to share in the love/hate relationship of the reef tank hobby.
