Went to Menards, Lowes, and HD on north side of the city. No dowflake or peladow. Anyone see it recently in or around city?

Thank you.

I just found some Prestone at the Ace on Algonquin in Algonquin.

Sorry, I don't get into the city too often.

It is near Ocean's Floor and may be worth the trip. Neat place.

It ain't dowflake, but it's as pure or more pure than Peladow and Dressel's Ace Hardware at the corner of Harlem and Chicago Ave in Oak Park has several 50lb bags. Some are marked Calcium Chloride some are marked Sno Melt, they are both from Standard Tar Co in Wisconsin and are as pure or more pure than Peladow.

That same company distributes Mag, so I am assuming that Dressels can get that in. But I don't need any of either right now!

Sorry, I meant Prestone Driveway Heat instead.

Try walgreens, I got peladow from them.

They're the same thing -- Peladow and Prestone.

And same as Turbo Calcium products (any recipe calling for dowflake, if using Peladow/Prestone/or another anhydrous calcium chloride product just reduce the amount by 1/3).

Thanks for the ratio on the reduction. I couldn't find it anywhere. All I could find was info on the purity. I faked my way into a 1/4 reduction. It seems to be working fine in that range too.

If you search in the chemistry forum you'll find many posts where Randy gives the ratio. I think his article on the formula mentions it too.
