Downdraft w/ Beckett

The biggest mistake made with any beckett is air flow and water level.
They are more stable and the beckett is better at 36 down to 30
air flow levels .
This also allows you to put the water level very close to the cup
anywhere from 6 to 8 inches is the norm.
A etss works on very low water levels the modded ones with becketts
need very high water levels.
I will get some pics of my setup my water level is very close to the cup
and is very stable at 32 on my DYWER.

Been running about 4 weeks now and the bubbles have tightened up real good. Running the beckett at 45-48scfh. Ran for a week without the bio-balls but it seems to work a lot better with them. The pump is a Blueline 40HD.

bayoupr, just curious on the diameter of the "opening" into the box from the tower? You said the tower is 2.5 inches in diameter ?
thanks

:fish1:I'm interested in the Beckett mod. I have the ETSS 1500 skimmer and run an Iwaki 100RLT on it, where can I purchase a BARR Beckett for this skimmer and what is a DWYER? :fish1:

Oh, how I miss my Beckett.. 15+ years ago I built a 6' tall downdraft Beckett with bioballs. That thing was insanely good. And loud. And power hungry, And large. But man could it skim.

I have an older model MRC MR3 with dual becketts. I've been thinking about modding it for a while. I'd like to increase the height and width of the injector towers. Any thoughts on how high I should make them? And as far as the diameter, how large can I go? I was thinking 2" or 2 1/2", but I don't know if it would be too much. The fittings on the skimmer box are 1", would the reduction from 2 1/2" to 1" cause an airlock in the beckett towers?
Also, does anyone know where you can buy a quick-disconnect fitting like MRC now uses on their collection cups? All those thumbscrews are a real PITA.
