Downsizing tank

I'm going to be moving within the next 6 months. I currently have a 38 Gallon and was thinking of moving my 3 small corals and my juvenile clown to my 10 Gallon so it's easier for moving. If I move my sand over, live rock and some will after should I be ok?

Just buy a new bag of sand (the small one), move rock and water over and introduce fish.

+1 on new sand.

Use a small amount, probably one scoop for your size tank, of old sand to "seed" the new tank.

You risk having a cycle if you transfer all of the old sand due to releasing all of the trapped gasses in the old sand.
