downsizing to nano

I am looking to transfer about 35-40lbs of live rock from my 125 gallon that's been up for 5 years into my new 28g jbj nano. I am going to use caribsea arag alive Fiji sand 20 lbs worth. I have two clowns. Ywgoby cuc Cb angel I want to transfer over. Is my nano going to cycle? Also does anyone use padding under the jbj nano and the stand that comes with it? Thanks

You may get a small cycle, maybe not. All depends on how much die off you get from the transfer, likely you won't see anything. I don't use padding and it's been fine for 1.5yrs.

Should not cycle. I would make sure to blow off a lot of the detritus and such of the LR before transferring though.

My jbj has been setup for about a month no padding... What would the padding be for?

Many people use padding under tank to stabilize if it should ever become unlevel

Unless you are using water change water to fill the tank remember to drip acclimate everything! That's where I made my mistake when I went from my 70 to my current tank. Killed a cool urchin and some of my other CUC.

Pps clarify water change water. Is that my 125 g water or new mixed water?
