Downtown Pets - What a Good Deal!

I was at the frag swap today and am just really impressed with how quickly that store is taking shape. Most impressive were the fish prices. Arc Eye Hawkfish for like 20 bucks, crazy low prices on coral beauty angels, etc. There coral selection gets better every time I stop in and the owners are very nice. Eric, who posts here, is also really helpful and honest and looks out for his customers. It is nice to have another solid LFS in the city. I will certainly be back often.

I hope that folks enjoyed the beer today - I centainly enjoyed drinking it with you all :-)

I have to agree with Adam and i must say that the blasto thats in their display is amazing. Some really healthy corals showing great color at great prices. We need to support this lfs so that we can continue to enjoy days like today. City people dont really have much to choose from but downtown pets is great, if you guys havent been there check it out and talk to the owners and to Eric and flint, everyone is great.

How was the overall turnout of the swap ??? I was busy with stuff around the house today, otherwise I wouldve taken the trip down I-90.

I may have to take the trip down there one day anyway. :)

It was pretty good, lots of people everyone being friendly to each other and overall i would say a success. It would be better to ask Eric though.

Jose, Quit drooling on the blastos & just buy them! Got a snowflak eel for <$15 & a really nice table rock for $3.20/lb. Couldn't believe all the great deals on corals & the selection offered by you guys! Thanks to you, I've now gone over to the dark--ummmm... errrr... the SPS side!

that price on the snowflake eel cant be beat. I dont know about getting that blasto, im picking up my little blue spot jawfish soon :)

we dont have any(Adam and I) but a couple people had cameras and i kept seeing flashes. so someone post up!

I was there too. Lots of friendly people (and a friendly dog) and good bottled "refreshment". (Thanks John) A nice albeit smaller lfs. The mileage mounted up this weekend since I'm inbetween Rod's and Downtown's. At least the Jan frag meet in West Chicago is just down the road from me. See you there.

Yup, this was a frag'n weekend for me! Oswego on Friday night (thanks for the ride, Yola), Dekalb on Saturday & downtown today.

I visited Saturday and spoke with Eric for a while. I picked up a few things. They are very reasonable and I intend on going there more often.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I had a great time, I hope all of you did...We will definitely be having another at the store. It was great meeting everyone and thanks for making it out.

Adam- I owe you a frag of the "red people eaters" for some of that amazing beer you got me hooked on. You're going to make me broke!

Eric, glad you liked it ... i will have to bring you some more next time I stop by the shop ... nothing makes me happier than hooking folks up with good beer.

nmprisons,

Yeah I saw the empty Fin du Monde and Rasberry Lambic Belgian Ale bottles in the back afterwards.....bummed I missed out!

I got distracted talking to people and never even saw the top shelf stuff come out.

I did enjoy the Blue Moon though, always a favorite though it definitely tastes a little different than I remember. Its seems like it has much stronger hints of blueberries now!
