Yeah those are some really good shots. Your mantis looks great and I hope he can behave himself around that goby.

poor goby, i give it a 1 and 100 chance of living more then 6 months if doesn't learn to steer clear of the mantis

That shot with the goby is awesome. Too bad the goby got bleached out by the shot. I'm surprised the goby wasn't hit a second after the picture was taken. That has the classic "mantis lining up a good hit" pose. That is neat.

Dan

ya I was dissapointed the goby was blurry but it still looks cool.

.... the goby has gone missing as of this Am......:eek2:

-Im gonna stick to the idea that hes 'hiding'

Jess:(

Hiding in the mantis' stomach, maybe.

lol. Maybe a portion of him anyway...

I put the goby and 5 hermits all in there on the same day and they are all gone. What a pig.

Not sure why you would put a goby in there, you know it would not stand a chance. It's kinda sad :sad2:

considering that the mantis is more docile than others I have seen, and continues to live cooperatively with a blood shrimp and a pepp. shrimp.. I spoke some people and was told that it may 'work out' so I figured I would try it out.

The goby wasnt acting so great in the tank, to be honest, he probably was sick.. he never sifted the sand or anything so I think he may have been slow/ill which led to his 'prey' like appearance to the mantis.

Hmm, that's really interesting that it lives with two shrimp. That is one of those odd pairings that make you go hmmm. I wasn't trying to be rude or anything just so you know, just have a soft spot for little gobies :D The interesting part about your Peacock being docile, is that mine is kind of docile as well. I can stick my hand in there and move a coral if needs be (obviously with caution) and she just sits there watching me. It's the same way when we feed her things that aren't live, we put the feeding stick in and she ever so lightly takes the food off. Odd creatures

ya thats how mine is, she 'flutters' about and just slowly comes to the food while fluttering her undersides -its pretty graceful actually.

I have my hands in the tank all the time (shhh dont tell anyone.. lol) to move corals, clean, etc and the most she has ever done is come 'fluttering' up to me and touch my fingers with her little hands. No whacking at all.. at least not yet!

I love gobies too and thats why I wanted to try it ONCE just in case. I was hoping it would turn out better. I still feel like if I got a good healthy one it would work out but thats neither here nor there.

Jess

I can't believe she actually touches your hand!!! I would be sooo nervous. It's really cool that she is such a docile mantis. Has your's molted yet? Just curious since you have a Peacock as well, and I noticed that mine did not close up shop to molt.

yes she molted about 2 weeks ago! I saw the molt sticking up out of the sand.. I didnt even know that she had molted because she didnt exactly shut herself in her cave at all- there was one day she was kind of reclusive.. but then she snapped right back.

Shes acting funny today and Im kinda worried. I started another thread about it.

Jessica

Ok good, so I am not the only one with a speedy molter

Yeah, I saw your other thread, I hope she is going to be ok...I know you said you thought the goby was on it's way out, hopefully it didn't have anything that will effect your mantis. It's always a source of worry when something could be wrong with one of your pets. I hope you figure it out and she gets better :)
