drain teed to chiller

Does anyone see a problem teeing off the drain pipe to feed my 1/3 chiller, then chiller returning to sump? Right now I have a Rio pump feeding it. Thanks.

Well yeah, you'll be adding a potential blockage area for the drain (there's usually a large head loss associated with the chiller), which would overflow the display if it happened (think snail or something through the small diameter tubing in the heat exchanger). Also, the chiller has an optimum flow rate, which may be hard to achieve without active pressure on the system (the only force would be the height of the water coming out of the drain, which would likely not be enough).

I agree with crvz that its probably not a good idea. The chillers require x amount of flow and I dont think that the "T" of a drain would work to satisfy the flow and pressure needed through the chiller.
I have a "T" off my return line that feeds my chiller and then it goes back into the tank.
