Draining into Sump/Filter sock

SO my return line is splashing into filter sock and making quite a bit of splashing sound. The pvc is about an inch away from the top of the filter sock..
Can I extend the pvs down into filter sock and below the water line? and if so
how far down the water line should I go?

I believe the recommended length for the siphon drain is 1 inch below the water line in the sump for a herbie setup.

You can just dip the sock under water to get it out from under the pipe.

I had the same issue with my skimmer return. Made ton o noise going into a sock. I added an extension that i can slip on and off. Makes it easier to get the sock out, if i remove the extension. Made the return bare a able.

Great! I went and got a 1 1/4" female coupler and pipe and will install today. Can't wait for the splashing sound to go away.

If my pipe runs straight into the sock I usually place a union above the sock so I can easily remove the pipe to change the sock. If u are just adding on to your existing pipe with a coupling then I would just slide it in place & not glue it. That way u can slide the pipe out of the coupling to change the sock. If anything u can glue the coupling to your existing plumbing but not glue the extension into the plumbing.

They already mentioned it but if it’s a syphon drain u don’t want it submerged any more then 1”. If it’s a durso I don’t think it really matters
