Dreaded Brown Jelly Disease? Rainbow Hammer

Hey everyone,

Posted this in the wrong forum earlier in the week...

I've had this rainbow hammer for about 3 months now.

I noticed over the last 2-3 weeks it has been recessed a lot.

After 72 days of QT, I moved it over to the display hoping the added nutrients would perk it up.

This morning I noticed a little bit of brown stringy stuff along one of it's edges.

Do you guys think it's brown jelly and it's time to toss it?

Just stinks since it was such a nice piece

I've never really dealt with Brown Jelly before...

BTW: It's on the right / middle edge.

Also did a 30 minute H2O2 dip and didn't seem to help much...

I've posted this before, but IME, the infection is the effect, not the cause. Once the coral is to this point, recovery is hard. If there is a good head left, you can try cutting and dipping it.

Do you think 100% it's brown jelly disease?

It's tough with a wall hammer, since there really aren't any other heads.

disease, infection, I never cared except that the coral wasn't healthy. I will say this, do not buy wall hammers period lol.

I'm thinking it's not brown jelly, because it's been a few days maybe a week plus and it hasn't gone down hill fast.

Also if you look over the coral the hammers aren't covered in anything.

Plus no bad smell?!?!

could be a little bit of algae that attached. When my bubble coral was healing, there was a couple fins where some algae got a hold of it like that. Waited till it was fulled receded and cut the skeleton to get rid of it. Next day, the bubble opened around it and has now healed completely.

Thanks guys :)

Going to dip it in some Iodine this afternoon.

Wasn't sure on brown jelly since it's had it for well over a week and hasn't got much worse if worse at all.

Also other hammers/torches/frogspawns were around it with no signs of anything while in the frag tank.
