dreaded bubble algae question

I have some live rock that I would like to move from an old tank to a new tank set up. The old rock has some bubble algae on it. If I scrubb off the bubbles I have read will release spores and make things worst. If I soak the rock in water with bleach will it kill off the spores where they wouldnt be introduced into the tank. I know the bleach will kill off all the live rock bacteria but I am ok with that.
Thanks
Jeff

how much bubble algae do you have? can you just remove it manually, being careful not to pop any? after that, maybe put it in qt and watch to see if any more develop?

if you bleach your rock you'd have to cure it again, anyways, I think (ive never heard of people bleaching rock before).

just remove all bubbles by hand or brush and put rock in qt till you are sure there are no more bubble algae on it, i worked on one rock that was still in my tank, removing alittle at a time, now my rock is free of all bubble algae, it also dosent hurt to keep an emerald crab to take care of the smaller bubble algae, but its hit and miss with emeralds

Keeping a couple small emerald crabs should be helpful. First, pull off any B.A. you can find, and then hopefully one or both of the emerald crabs will have an appetite for any tiny new bubbles that may begin growing. Should the emeralds cause any trouble down the road as they get bigger, you can remove them as necessary.
