Although I have rarely showed up in comments in RC, but I have always been a great admirer of this forum, I have loved the stories and experiences everyone share. I have also gained countless of knowledge, familiarity, and information from this wonderful forum, thanks, RC!

But this time, I would definately endeavour to share my story...

For one that has loved the hobby of aquarium ever since childhood, this tank, is considered a bit late. But that's ok...I guess, at least it has started! Well, I feel really happy about the commence of it, it should be a great toy for me!

For about 20 years, I have had the experience of fresh water tanks, it gave me a pretty good idea of what to expect from my salt water tank. Began in the mid-November of 2003, I have started my salt water tank. Although I have gotten what I wanted, but after seeing and learning much from some of RC's members' stunning tanks, i started to realize that there are something missing about my aquiram, it just didn't fulfill my "dream" tank.

Since the middle of last year, I have began some serious thoughts about the setting up a new tank and the detailed set-up of it. Thoughts like the size of the tank, glass or acrylic, location of the tank, amount of sides view (single, double, or even three or four sides), FO or RT(LPS or SPS), equipments, daily maintainance, the duration of my interest, and most importantly, the budget. Everything, every tiny little thoughts can give me a headache. But after thinking of the happiness of knowing the result, I started to feel pleasure within the headaches.

The day that the wall was torn off, after my son came home from school, it gave him a huge surprise. *sigh* our thoughts are completely opposite, he thinks it's a destruction, but what I see, is a colorful future.

Alright, enough rubbish, lol. I will record the the set-up like a diary. Please feel free to make comments and suggestions!!

Have you considered using an external pump for your return? I've used MAG pumps for years, but switched out to an external for the return on our new in-wall and have been much happier. Two (2) MAG 18's are going to dump some heat into your system.

Where are you going to put your chiller?

A quick note on pumps. I see you've picked 2 EXCELENT pumps. the Ehiem and Red Dragon pumps are among the best pumps available. They are also some of the quietest. So this leads me to wonder why in the heck you chose a noisy cheap pump in the MAG? Your setup ( what we can see, your over your file limit ) look great. and your going to want this tank to be quiet since it's in your main living area's. Bottom line unless the MAGS are in the basement or another fishroom conser loosing them for another Ehiem or a Velocity T4.

I dont see any picture just big white blocks with image hosting .us file is over

Thanks for all the compliments! still have a long long way to go.

The reason I chose MAG is because of my old 120G tank used MAG12 for return pump for about 2.5years, and it didn't show any problems at all, I'm very satisfied. I find that the MAG's noise is actually lower than the sound created by water flow, but when the MAG is making a louder sound than water flow, I might have to think about replacing it by a better pump. About the external pump Red Dragon, for the matter that it is outside of the sump as a closed loop pump, so I took an extremely quiet one.

I haven't really thought about my chiller, because the house temperature maintains in an ideal rate of 75 to 78 degrees throughout the entire year. And the tank's temeperature paces in the range between 80 to 82 degrees, I will see what happened on the new tank.
