So...

Other setup is getting to small for me, so I want a bigger setup.

This is what I custom ordered

It is 3 side viewable 1220L x 800W x 600H (W/L at 550 and overflow at one side of the 800) It is much bigger the I first thought :D

My plans for the tank is a reef with alot of small schooling fish, maybe a tang or two and alot of corals.

This is as far as I have planned

Any advice

From the pics it looks like you are using a particle board carcass for the stand. If so I hope you have it well sealed. Particle board literally disintegrates when wet.

Also, I would suggest cross bracing on the stand to take the weight of the tank plus water plus rocks. You will need to account for any lateral shear. That's why people usually build from a wooden frame first.

The stand will be taken apart and coated all over so no water can get to the boards. The stand is still not finished, and will still get supports everywhere.

The same with the tank itself, still getting braces.

Hey ppl,

I'm still not sure about my filtration.

What do you guys think, should I go the Zeo route or the reactors (phos, calcium, denitrate) route?

Yeah i know you said you are adding more supports to the stand and tank, but until I see it, I'm quite concerned. The stand as is would buckle with a slight shift in weight when filled with water.

I would probably seal that particle board with an marine epoxy grade and add a couple of 2x4's, if you have some scrap from that particle board try soaking it it literally breaks apart. Dont get me wrong its a very nice built:)

The whole cabinet will be taken apart and sprayed with marine epoxy, and the will be put together again. Supports will also be added still.

so thats about 48x31x24" ~150g

that looks like 1/2" glass?? if so, i think you will need some bracing. 24" is too tall for a rimless with 1/2" glass.

As stated in previous posts, the tank will be braced. Here where I live glass thicker than 6mm needs to be specially ordered and I am waiting for them to deliver.

Hey Reefers,

I want to update, but there is not much that happen.

I was thinking about my filtration. So far I have a OCTX-160 and that is as far as I got.

So can anyone advice me with what else I can add. I want a clean sump, so no DSB and will not be doing SPS corals, so no Zeo.

Hey Reefers,

Update time

Here is a list of all the new goodies I got for the setup:

3x Sicce Scuba 300W heaters
2x Flowtek 3200 l/h
1x Special Grade Reef Sand 18kg
1x Fiji Pink 6.8kg
1x Flamingo Reef 6.8kg
1x Odyssea Light Unit

Any advice appreciated!!

I just farted in Maryland, USA and unfortunately that knocked over your stand in Swakopmund . . . SERIOUSLY, U need some MAJOR cross bracing to prevent lateral movement or that beautiful tank (braced or not) will be in 9,000 pieces on the ground. Major issue upon which I would focus on no other were I you.

I'd agree with the others that tank looks good but stand I'm more than worried about. I think I used to make small airplanes out of that wood!
