Dream Tank 160g Dispay 220+ Volume

asonitez

Floodicus Maximus Flooris
So As many of you knew last year I picked up a 150 Gallon Tank and set It up as a peninsula. Awesome as that experience was I found myself lacking a few things that I really wanted.

#1 - I absolutely Hated my stand with a passion
#2 - I like the dimensions but my Rock work does not leave enough "negative space" to work with.
#3 - I could not use an external pump (Reeflo Snapper) which I really wanted to do.
#4 - I could not keep some Fish because I introduced them azz backwards.

Although this year was a tough one financially, My wife and I accomplished some great deeds and I have been saving up my Pennies for a Rainy Day. I am in the process of building a new tank
that will definitely be a show piece.

The Tank will measure 48" Long X 30" Wide X 27" High Built by Glass Cages with Black Silicone.
It features an external overflow with 2 1.5" Drains and 2 Returns below the overflow. I will be using George Fisher Check Valve's to prevent Back Siphon.

Lighting

As many of you know I have been using the AI SOL BLUE's + 2x 54w T5's to build my reef. I will not be using this setup on my new tank.
Lighting for my New tank will be a

ATI Dimmable Sunpower 8x 54w Fixture

2X ATI Blue Pluz
3X KZ Super Blue
2X KZ Coral Plus
1x KZ Fiji Purple (May Swap to a Actinic or Blue + Depending)

2X ReefBrite Blue Actinic Strips

Filtration

SKIMz SM 201z Hybrid Prototype from Signapore
ReefOctopus BioPellet Reactor
NextReef MR1 Carbon Reactor
NextReef MR1 GFO reactor
Avast Marine Ozone Reactor w/ Enaly 200mgh Ozone Generator
GEO-Reef Calcium Reactor w/ Reef Fanatics

Water Movement

4X Tunze 6095 on an APEX Controller.

Sump

I really want a refugium. Specifically one with Miraclemud. I will either be using a 40 Gallon Breeder or commissioning a good friend of mine on
Manhattanreefs to build one specifically for me.

Frag Tank

Eurobraced 30X16X12 Custom Acrylic Tank.

Note: LED's

I have many times contemplated what I wanted from this hobby. I know what I want. I feel as though I have graduated now from the simple acros and staghorns of my reefing youth and I would like to
try a few difficult corals and acans/chalices etc. I love my LED's and thanks to Sunny and a few others I have experienced great success with my AISOL Blues. They took a bit of tinkering to get
what I wanted from them but ultimately because of my direction change I have decided to go with a more tried and true method of growing corals until LED's mature a little more. This is not to
take away from anyone that is currently experiencing great growth and color with LED's. For my "needs" I need to go with T5's. Although many would disagree with my change to LED's I respect others positions and
am open to discussion on the subject.

If All is on track then My new tank will be here in Bridgewater Feb/March 23rd.
If anyone has an awesome pickup truck and would like to help me out with a tank move then awesome. I'm working with a Forum member to see about a Stand.

Update As of Today

Ok. I should be angry. But I don't quite know what I'm feeling right now. It's a combination of anger and understanding. As a business owner i can understand what happened. As a consumer I'm pretty ****ed.

First off all of my help except 1 guy was available for the move. Everyone else was a combination of work, wife, issues. At least I didn't find out the day of. I found out the day before. So basically the day before my dream tank is schedule to arrive I found out that not only had the majority of my help not be able to show up that it looks like I didn't have a truck.

So I bought one. No.. not help. I bought a truck.

#1 - The delivery truck for glass cages was about 20 minutes late. This was fine as it gave me and Gonzapa some time to go into the store and grab some necessities. Boxes for the bottom of the tank and a moving blanket for the tank itself.

#2 - After waiting for another 15 minutes we found out that the truck had arrived and was BEHIND HOMEDEPOT and we drove around and lo and behold there they were.

#3 - Upon arriving at the scene we found out that the lift gate on the truck was not working. This meant that we either had to lift tanks over the lift gate or wait for them to go and find a repair shop to fix the lift gate. This was not going to happen.

#4 - After maneuvering the truck around a little it was discovered that the lift gate started working and we were in business. I was the second to last tank to come out of the truck.

#5 - They asked us for some help removing my tank from the truck and after moving it to the front of the truck Gonzapa and I commented on how SMALL it looked for a 4 foot tank.

#6 - Out comes the measuring tape and it was discovered moments after it was loaded onto my truck that GUESSWHAT? It was the wrong dimensions. It was correctly 25" Tall. It was Correctly 30" Wide. BUT... THAT SOB WAS ONLY 40" LONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was not a 4 FOOT TANK!

The silicon work and overflow work were flawless. The glass was cut rounded and looked beautiful. The actual thing looked like it was built by a better known manufacturer. The process itself was very easy and barring the lift gate issue that resolved itself there was nothing wrong with the customer service. Immediately after calling the customer service number after rejecting delivery she told us a new tank would be built Monday and cured by the time it arrives. In order to make it right she said I would be able to choose from a few more options that will make the sting of not getting my tank better. She mentioned

Starphire Upgrade
A Monetary Discount
Another Tank (Smaller)

and a few other options including home delivery. I'll be speaking to her Monday to go over the details.

I am happy for a few reasons.

This gives me more time to finish my tank stand and Frag Tank. It also gives me time to finish my SUMP which will be ready April 6th. This gives me time to swap out my reactors with ReefOctopus ones and this also gives me time to finish Staining my tank stand and canopy.

I will also have some time to finish building a few other things in the apartment that I need to fix up before a special occasion. I will get a chance to also Break down my tank over time and even Quarantine my fish while I wait for a new tank to be built. This is time to build my Manifold and get my Plumbing put in place.

All things happen for a reason. Even if Gonzapa and I took delivery today we did not have enough manpower to actually move the tank into the house from my truck. This would have been unfortunate no matter what. In the mean time I will keep the thread active with more pictures of the stand and such.

Frag Tank Stand Finished!!!!

So one of the things I have got into the habit of doing was KILZing the entire inside of my tank with oilbased KILZ primer. Not only does it leave a nice bright white shine. But it is also incredibly easy to clean. The best part is that if your tank inside is caulked and the kilz put on thick enough its almost 100% Waterproof to spills. This is AWESOME for reefers that work inside their sump and are prone to spilling a little water here or there during maintenance. I also found the PERFECT undercabinet lighting.

10 BUX EACH At Wallymart!!

Spoke to GlassCages today. Not quite sure how ppl says their customer service sucks. They are pretty nice. I've talked to almost the entire team and they are pretty much on the ball. Dealing with a company first hand instead of hearing about them through the grape vine is very different.

The verdict is that

I will be credited my delivery charge back.
They will build my tank immediately using Starphire or If I opt for the monetary discount. (We will discuss this Tuesday)
My tank is schedule to arrive APRIL 20th. (Not Too Bad Given the Circumstances)
They are building my new tank with Zero Tolerance it WILL BE. 48" Long + 5.5" for the Overflow 30" Wide and 26" High.
