Drew's Dosing pumps Bulk reef supply

I was wondering how many of you are using Drew's dosing pumpsfrom Bulk Reef Supply I am thinking about going that route to dose 2 part just want to make sure that they are a good product. I wouldn't doubt that they aren't since everything I ever bought from there has been good

I just set up my pair of Drews dosers a few weeks ago. Great little pumps and do just what I wanted them to. I have them setup to the multi-timer function of my Reefkeeper 2 controller. My only recommendation would be to do a test run of 20 min or so to see what exactly the flow rate is, as they can vary between pumps.

NIce that is exactly what I plan on doing using the RKE to control the 2 pumps to dose. 2 questions for ya.

1) you can set a short interval using the Reefkeeper for the pump to go on lets say 5-10 minutes?

2) what flow rate did you get per min on your pump?

I believe one is about 1.6 ml/min and the other 1.4 ml/min.
I tested every night for about a week and adjusted the timers accordingly. At this point, it doesnt matter what the flow rates are once you know it tests the same each day.
Consistent calc 420 alk 7.6 (intentionally low).

For the RK2, you can adjust from 1-30 minutes in 1 minute intervals. After that (30+ min), its 5 minute intervals. So what I did was just break the dosing period into 2 spearate periods so I could keep it at 1 minute intervals and adjust till my parameters did not vary. This also helps with pH swings when dosing the alk.

I will say that I have not taken the timer down to 1 minute as a single dose, so I do not know for sure what the shortest dosing period would be.

Yup I see exactly what you are saying I have a Ml measuring cup that i will first test with water to get the flow and then adjust the RKE accordingly. Thanks for the information that helped alot

The flow rate will drop on these pumps over time. I went from about 1.5ml/min down to 1.1ml/min over a about a year. You should test them and make adjustments regularly. I check them once a quarter.

I would think that you ld be with every pump as calcium and other stuff builds up they are going to slow down but that is a good observation and a good measure to check every few months cause you may be thinking that your Levels are depleting faster when in fact your pump is just not pumping what you originally wanted

That is a question for GatorWPB. But a good one cause that is a nice size especially if they hold a gallon

would this pump wear out the hose twice as fast due to the 4 rollers (compared to 2 roller SP3000)? one would logically think it will. any user of this pump had to replace the hose yet?

I just ordered new tubing sets for my pumps to see if they return to the original volume. I let you know after I replace them.

Gator,
may I ask what times of the day you have your 2 dosing cycles go off and how many ml of each you you dose daily? How long each cycle is on? Not meaning to hijack or anything, i just have a 65 sps as well.

AN411 THOSE ARE VERY SWEET JUGS, THEY HOLD JUST OVER A GALLON IF IM NOT MISTAKEN from bulk reef supply. sorry for the caps. i also have my setup like that too. lucky for me both my pumps are at 1.6 so i have them on the same timer. the timer i bought at home depot, it is tan. it has 7 diffrent time settings that you can set for 1 minute on /off cycles so what i did was have them go on and off 7 diffrent times throughout the night. this setup works great. i just get the occasional buble in the line though even after i put a smalleri.d. flexable line on there thinking it would be snugger over the hose fitting going into the pump.

I dose my calcium for 60 min at midnight
the alkalinity I dose 30 min at 130am and 28 minutes at 3am. For the alk, I wanted to break up the the period because of the pH increase.

Yes, those jugs are from bulkreefsupply. As are the pumps and the 2-part solution. I got extra jugs to mix them in first and then transfer over the premixed solution into the slim jugs. I also have a 3rd jug with magnesium solution that has a hand pump that I dose manually.

I gave bulk reef a call so that I could ask all the questions I wanted before ordering. they were very helpful and guided me to what I wanted.

My parameters are rock solid now, but I will keep testing once a week just to see if the pump flow will change or my demand increases as my sps continue to grow.
