Drilled Overflow Question

Wanted to get your guys opinion on what I was thinking before I placed my order. I am looking at drilling a 72 bow on the back top. Looking at using two 2" bulkheads (overkill I know, but I thought I read that the less flow going through the quieter they are). Then would T the line and drill a small hole in the pipe cap. My return will go over the tank (not drilling). Also thinking of using the following overflow box and bulkhead strainer:

The tank is near our bedrooms and living room where we watch TV so I want to make sure that it is relatively quiet. Doesn't have to be perfect, but no gurgling. I saw the Bearnie and Beananimal, but didn't want to make that complicated. Looking for simple, yet effective.

Thoughts?

Honestly, id go with the beananimal or herbie systems. They not only move more volume, they do so near silently. And if you are drilling already its only 1 more hole to make a bean, or keep the 2 and run the herbie.

While your plan will work, silent it most likely will not be

Yes. I've got 1" bulkheads on my 120 flowing 1100-1200 gph and I still have to throttle it back.

Noise is caused by water sloshing around with air. Bean and herbie systems use a complete siphon that has no air, so they are totally silent. If you are trying to run a Durso or other open channel system then bigger pipes will keep it quieter. Second the suggestion given above to doing a Bean animal system. Easily the best, most reliable and trouble free system when set up properly.
