Drilling 55g Petco $1/g. Check

just wanted to check my understanding from reading similar threads. I'd like to drill for overflow pipes on the back side edge of a Petco 55g Breeder. (Not through the floor glass). Will get my Friendly LFS to help me.

This back pane of glass is ok to drill,yes?

Nope. Every pane is tempered on the 55. You can go with a 40 breeder which only has a tempered bottom.

Yep its a no go. Its most likely a Tetra/Marineland brand that is tempered glass on all side, no drilling. Very common for all 55's.

There is no 55 breeder as a standard tank size, to my understanding. The standard 55 tank size does not have good dimensions for a reef tank due to the narrow width. A 40B (breeder) or a standard 75 are the general tanks of choice, for a reef tank in close size.
