Has anyone drilled their 100 gallon Rubbermaid sump on the ends where its curved? I wanted to make sure it will get a good seal before I drill it.

How are you going to plumb return from tank so you dont get micro bubbles. Also how are you installing skimmer. I also have rubber maid and have put off doing this project , want to do it right the first time. Any Photos.
Sorry so many Questions.

Here's a few pics of mine- I get ZERO micro bubbles back to the tank and very little turbulence in the rubbermaid- This is with about 1500gph running through it....

I widened the stock bulkhead hole and used a 2" uniseal for mine and it's worked flawlessly...

And here are the skimmer and 2 tank return lines going into the sump ...

Thank You 4 Pictures

Are you gonna use a uniseal? What size?

I have a 2" Bulkhead I plan to use. The Hole has to be 3 1/4" for the bulkhead.

I was told not to put an elbow on the intake of the pump. But I really like how you have that set up. Do you think the elbow takes away from the power of the pump? If not do you think two elbows would hurt the pump? The pump has a 1 1/2" intake but I ran 2" so it would allow more flow to the tank.

Will the 2" bulkhead fit snugly on the round side of the tub? That's the only thing I would be worried about. As far as the elbows go, they don't seem to be affecting the pump at all in my application. Usually if the pump is having problems with it it will run hotter and mine feels fine so far. I was trying to keep the whole setup as compact as possible so I really didn't have any other choice but like I said, it's worked out well...When are you going to set it up?

I just got my tank tonight.. And since the tank was made Thursday I have to wait till Nov. 2nd to fill it up. So now I'm not in that big of a hurry.

No the Bulkhead does not rest snug on the curved part. but I have also asked in another form and people have said just use silicone before I tighten the bulkhead. And I will be fine.

I really like how yours comes out the side and has the 90°. I would like to setup something just like that but have another 90° going back into the pump.

What pump are you running.

Hmmmm....I would be a little concerned about the whole silicone thing but you could always try it and see. I am running a sequence dart....

Good Q's lon, have thought about turning sump out elongated? I think it would stick out to far. However, who really goes in there other than you. I like the 90* Idea myself, then you can leave the sump the way it was.
