drilling a 125

All holes will be in the back. Are overflows best high or low? Also what about placement of holes for a closed loop and returns? I have hole saws for 1" or 1 1/2" bulkheads.
Ideas or success stories welcomed...

Overflows high, just incase something goes horribly wrong you would only drain the top 2-4' of the tank.

I would go with the slightly larger holes, because you can always downsize a large hole to reduce flow but can never make an already drilled (and filled) hole larger if you choose to increase flowrates in the future. Also a large hole/return well be less like to get clogged.

I've got the same qestion out in several places looking for ideas!!!
I already sort of have a plan but it's flexible depending on what I hear back...
