drilling a tank?

I have had that problem before and it SUCKS especially when your tank is on carpet. The "water on the floor alarms" are nice.

How loud are the alarms? My tank is located downstairs on the opposite end of house from where bedrooms are located upstairs. Would I be able to hear it?

I have drowned my carpet several times! I picked up a used rainbow sweeper for the sole purpose of cleaning up after spills. The good sweeper stays up stairs. So, now I have 2 rainbow sweepers. When I bought my first rainbow I got every attachment they offered. The carpet cleaning attachments really helps to get the water out of the padding. Wet/dry vacs are loud and cumbersome.

I have done this so many times I am really thinking about pulling up the carpet. Has anyone ever used the product that Lowes advertises to paint your garage floor with a rubbery type sealant that prevents moisture and seals the concrete? Linoleum is cold on the feet but easier to clean when accidents happen.

I forgot who suggested to use a wet/dry vac to clean sump. Excellent idea to who ever made the suggestion. I bought a small model and set it on top of a large trash can to clean bare bottom tanks and sump. It works great and I don't have to haul the water! I put trash can on wooden cart with wheels and pull it to each tank and then out the garage door. I saw the filter socks Jim was talking about and thought there should be a way to hook the large sock up to vacuum so I can sift the snails and polyps once I'm done cleaning.

I'm not sweeper poor! That's for sure.

Don't forget we will be having a LIVE discussion on this topic tonight at 10 over at the CVRC chat room if you can make it. I'm sure it will prove useful.

Had company from out of town! I've never done a live chat but am hoping I can go into site and read what was said. I really wanted to hear this since I missed the demo at the meeting.

I'm coming your way friday afternoon and will stop in and visit for a little while. Soccer tournament in Barboursville Sat & Sun. Going to see Jim on Sunday if he's working after our last game.

You missed nothing, I was there till 11 and no one showed up. Either way, the room is there and the schedule is set so if you like you can show up every wed night around 10PM. These things take a while to get started but once they do they get huge fast. Aside from a meeting there is no better way to get instant feedback of your ideas or to clarify your meeting of a subject before it's taken wrong by someone a day later.

I went in to see what was said I did not find anything. So, my question is if there were conversations last night would I have been able to see the "footage" of who said what? Is it recorded in black and white like what I am typing now?

If there would have been anything important said there I would have put a transcript on our page. Like I said, no one showed up except Roger who said he came online about 11:15 or so. I gave up at 11 myself.

has anyone ever bought the $13 drill bit off ebay? i need a 1" hole in the back for an overflow. and i guess i will try to drill it myself. if anyone has a 1" bit that i could rent off of them for a day, that would be fantastic. or i would pay them 15-20 dollars to drill my tank for me. either way would be fine. thanks.

Shoot, it can't be that hard just drill the thing. Remember you always have four other sides to try it on if you mess up the first time.

I ordered extra sizes so once I get the hang of it I'll sublet my labor out! (Jim said I could!) Just kidding! I don't think it will be hard it seems to be a matter of patience. My 230 is 3/4" thick! I will have lots of patience! There is a great thread in the forum DIY "Just One More Tank"
