Drilling holes in AGA 210

Well, got myself a used 210. Previous owner drilled the tank for a closed loop in an odd configuration. I don't know if his drill bit wore out, or he decided he was making too many holes in the back of the tank or what.... Anyway, I was wondering if adding the three "red holes" would weaken the back of this tank too much. All thoughts are appreciated.

BTW...all the holes are 1 3/4".

TIA

I don't think the additional upper holes will effect much, you may already have too many holes on the lower center section...

Is there any type of guidance on how many holes you can have and how far apart they need to be??

I'm not aware of an hard and fast rules for that sort of thing. I am just basing that comment on the fact that the most pressure on the glass is at the bottom of the pannel. However, you also get the reinforcement from the side-bottom joint. BTW, I am in no way an expert on this, just offering my opinion.

Hey, no problem. I am definitely not an expert either. All the holes are about 6 inches from eachother (the ones on the bottom.) They are also 6 inches from the bottom trim and the overflows.

They just seem to be in an odd configuration. Maybe he started drilling and decided he was putting too many on the bottom as well.

Hmmm...probably don't want to be drilling any more holes. :(
