drilling tank questions.

:deadhorse:This will be my display I drill. Just wondering how far down to put the holes for drains, back up drain and return. I'm drilling the back of a Osaka 155 if that helps. I have a med CPR overflow box so I have some idea of the hole layout, but just want advice before slicing into the glass.

Also what's a good depth to put the overflow box when I silicone it in, level with the top or an inch or two below? the tank is rimless.

cheers

You want the overflow teeth to be where you want your water level to be and the holes to be in the center of the overflow box. I hope that made sense. Good luck

It depends a little bit on the amount of water you plan to push through the overflow, and the linear length of the overflow box, but figure the equilibrium water level will be a 1/2" or so above the bottom of the overflow 'teeth'.

Great info guys thanks. I got the box in today and will be drilling the tank tomorrow. Looks like I should have room for one elbow facing downwards for the main return and one pointed up with a bit of pipe as the backup. I been looking and that seems to be the set up a lot if folks have.

So here is the tank after the drilling. I was amazed at how easy it went. I did not think it would be that simple.
