Drip acclimating question?

You just drip the water from your main tank. What I did was put the bucket with the lfs water and the fish on the floor and ran a small airline tubing down from the main tank and dripped it at about 5 drops per second. Then your tank water will slowly be added to the bucket and the fish will get use to your tank water. Check the bucket every once in awhile to make sure its not going to overflow. This should take 2-3 hours. You may even have to slow down the amount of drops per second.

I also do the same thing as Andrew, first I drip acclimate for 45 mins. at 2-4 drops per second, then for the next 25 minutes I drip foor a little bit faster around 5-7 drips per second, then for the last twenty minutes I drip almost continuous totalling 1 and a half hours. You can control the drips with the average air gange(sp) valve.

Thanks, all that makes sense but what about temp changes?? Is there a big difference when it's time to add the new item to the main tank?

Here's a cheap idea for you...

After drip acclimating as mentioned above, use a catch cup and hang in on the inside of your tank for about 20 mins. with the fish in it with water from the bucket.

I did the knot thing for a while but it is so much easier to buy a 50 cent gang valve and then you can accuratley gauge the drips with the twist of the valve
