Drive unit

How do you know when to replace your drive unit (impeller)? My 6100 is older then two years and today I removed the drive unit and it was really warm. It needed a vinegar bath, other then that it works great. Just curious?

If it is 2 years old I would get another just to have as a spare, they do sometimes last 4-5 years but the norm is 2-3. They do run warmer as they wear, they also get noisier and eventually they just stop because some part is broken or too worn to continue.
