SEA-The good: Lots of corals of various sizes and best prices in town, almost any dry goods you need/want, lots of your basic inverts/clean up crew is always in stock, good fish selection, very clean. The bad: it may be busy at times, live rock is big and generic (although the artificial coraline rocks are pretty cool, I have a few.)
Southwest Saltwater-The good: Large store with plenty of walking room, i've never had anything unhealthy from SWSW, Large live rock selection ranging from sump rubble to lace rock and fiji live rock to high end tonga, I normally see a fish I haven't seen at an LFS each time I visit, good place to buy used tanks and etc, some high end yet small zoas and LPS. The bad: Hardly any inverts, few larger sps corals.
GQ Fish- The good: Very healthy livestock, very clean store, the place seems ready for LEDs to take off, always plenty of fish. The bad: the healthiness of the livestock plus how new the store is affects the slightly higher price on things, the store smaller and slightly cramped, not too many big corals.
Tropical Kingdom-The good: they sometimes have macros for sale, normally have juvinile/ higher end fish in stock, like angels & lionfish & triggers & puffers, I've even seen an eel in there that looked like those black and bluish white banded sea snakes, decent price on live rock and dry lace rock. The bad: it's not just a fish store but a large pet store, it can be not the cleanest or best smelling of places, not much dry goods or special/newer equiptment, not very many corals for sale at all, most of the corals for sale are attached to live rocks so you must buy and entire colony of something (never less than $65.)
Oasis-The good: unique corals, black sponges, i've never seen anything dead in the tanks, the sales can be good if signed up for the email list. The bad: Oasis is proud to not use chemicals in their systems but there is a major flatworm, aptasia and majano problem! The prices can be way too off (like $50 for a 1cm frag of neon green Palau nephthea,) the owner will not negotiate on prices ever, no basic inverts, and twice i've been told that they just had sold 200 turbo snails hence the lack of snails in the invert section (which I could just tell, was a lie.)
Please note that these are opinions and are just arbitrary to my own needs, however; I feel that many Tucson reefers may not dissagree with me. I listed the better ones first.
