Drooping Finger leather

I got a finger leather last week and for the last couple of days it has been dropping over. All other corals are fine so im not sure what is wrong with it, it was previously standing upright with polyps out. There is some pulsing xenia touching it, can they irritate corals? Failing that does anyone know what can cause them to sulk?

Leathers can close up for no apparent reason, and sometimes for weeks. However you state it is newly added and has Xenia touching it. It being new it could just be acclimating. Or the Xenia is at war with it. Chemical warfare mat be afoot. You may want to move it over a bit.

Leathers can go through stages. It sometimes takes them a little time to acclimate, sometimes producing a slimy coat. Dropping it is not helping. Try to get it somewhere with medium flow/lighting.

I have removed the Xenia but 24 hours later it is still drooping, in fact it isnt just dropping its totally laying down. I have a Toadstool leather which is happy as can be so this is really confusing me.

I'd give it some time before moving it. Like I said they can close for quite some time. Give it a week to 10 days, if it doesn't open move it away from the Xenia.

I have fragged the coral, the bottom seemed to be rotten, the top half of the coral had detached from the bottom half. I stuck it to the rocks with milliput, I didnt think any touched the coral flesh but perhaps it did? Could that have caused this? What is the best way of attached a finger leather to a piece of rubble?

I've used loose rubber bands.
