I can't find the right combo of words using search to come up with much in the way of other threads. You've all seen the tank before I'm sure......Philippe Grosjean.

I am interested in finding out more about putting together something like this. We are finally moving to the house I plan on retiring in. *prays* So I'm finally ready to seriously look at some of my "dream tanks".

Is this something safe? I don't know how many of these the local guys made, but I don't want to be blowing a seam.

We've set up a kazillion tanks... is this something doable or should I walk away from the idea.

One thread I've seen the guy sprung a leak. Some say the tank has to be the perfect fit for the stand, but wouldn't using foam sheets help offset that concern?

I too am obsessed with that style of tank. I have seen it imaged in manufacturers websites but never one that was set up. Great looking tank .

Good luck on this build.

I have been kicking around the idea of doing this in a regular tank with an acrylic shelf installed and a stand skin that covers the part under the shelf for the same effect. problem is, I don't have enough room in my living room for a peninsula but now that sun coral tank has me thinking again. I had never seen that one before.

Wouldn't it make more sense to do one of these out of acrylic? Then you wouldn't necessarily have to have a mid-span seam which to me looks a little vulnerable, not to mention a little distracting to the eye.

Ya, acrylic would be the way to go and I believe most are being made with such. I would not sleep easy with that seam. But think how much easier it would be to clean with glass. How horribly pricey would it be to have a single sheet of glass per surface?

Perhaps you might check the dates of previous posters. I believe the consensus was to cut one sheet, but the thickness had to be measured to the strength required for the tallest/deepest part of the tank.
