Dry Erase Marker on rocks. Reef safe?

I think I have my scape done, and something I am happy with. Since I will have to move it from table into the tank when time comes, I want it to match what I have now. I used driveway markers and cement to have 3 bigger pieces that stack on top of one another, thats not an issue. Question is, to make sure that each piece aligns in the same spot on top of the other, can I use dry erase marker to put 3-4 lines on the rocks so that i use those as guide lines when I try to re-allign rocks? No idea if marker will have adverse effects in any way on the tank chemicals wise.

Ideas of what I mean (scrap pieces)

On the other forum someone said to use sharpie, as they are often used on frag plugs to write name of corals down. Since I do have to cycle, and plan on cycling outside of tank, chalk or charcoal will get washed away for sure. If I was doing it in tank, that would actually be good idea.

Thanks both

It will also help to take lots of pictures from multiple angles of how you want it to look. Even with the marks it can be difficult to remember just how they went.

hth!

Yes, all the info is definitely helpful. Will take lots of photos, as I am still putting finishing touches here and there. Better have too much info than not enough, and then not being able to put everything back together as close as possible (wont be 100% same, thats for sure)
