dry PH probe ruined?

Does it ruin a PH probe if it is out of the water (completely dried out) for a few days? I heard they need to be kept dry.
Thanks.

I suspect you ment to say they need to be kept wet....

You can try rehydrating the probe and seeing if it will calibrate.

I have, over the years had probes dry out (though not for many days) and after they where allowed to hydrate I was successful in calibrating the probe and it worked. Give the probe a week in water, calibrate and if that works. In any case be on the look out for 'odd' readings fro the probe; just in case.

I don't know if it applies but the hanna pen style probes say in their instructions just to let them sit in storage solution for a time (I forget if it was 24 hours or a week or what) if they dry out. My hanna came bone dry but is staying calibrated and checks against my neptune darn close (within expected error). Of course if both probes are equally off...then I dunno... :)
