DSB in refugium???

I'm setting up a new sump with a descent size refuge in it. I was wondering if I should make the sand bed in it deep or shallow.

What do you guys think? 1 inch or 4 or 5 inches of sand?

4-5 inches

you'll be very happy when, in a couple months, you can poke your finger in the sand and [inert] nitrogen gas bubbles escape and rise to the surface.

Do a DSB, 4 to 5 inches. The advantage is no nitrates...
