Hey guys I am looking ito the possibility of setting up a new 75G tank. Trying to get funding from my boss for some TBS rock, we will see how it goes.

Before I moved I manged a 40 gallon with southdown DSB/TBS sand and TBS rock and a 75 gallon with old (6+ years) fiji rock and no DSB.

I know the arguments for and against DSB's and thats not really my question, although I am always willing to learn more... I am wondering how many of you with TBS rock have gone with a DSB, DSB and TBS sand, or TBS sand only???

Any experiences, thoughts, comments what you would do differently with a new tank would be appreciated...

Thanks,
Jeff

Sandbed only for me. So far, it's been great but it's only been up for about 4 months, still way too long to say if it will be stable over the long haul. But no problems so far, the sand stays quite clean!

I think with the high density of TBS you'd probably get enough anerobic denitrification in the live rock alone that a DSB isn't truly necessary.

My nitrates measured 10 during the initial cycle and are now consistently at 0.
