DSLR Question

Okay, after reading through many threads, I've decided the Canon XSI with the Canon 100mm macro lens is what I need for taking pics of coral. I have a couple questions:
1) Is there more than 1 Canon 100mm macro lens? I just want to make sure I pick the right one up.
2) Assuming I pick up the XSI (which also comes with the 18-55mm lens), what do I need for taking pics of fish? Is it a matter of a shutter speed/setting, etc., or do I need additional equipment? Someone mentioned something about external flash, but I'm not sure what that means and if that's necessary...

Canon does have more than one 100mm lens. You want the 100mm f/2.8 macro lens. For fish pictures your going to want a fast aperture (which the 100 f/2.8 does), and fast autofocus (which the 100 f/2.8 does not). If you are good with manual focus then I think the 100mm may by a great fish lens. I think the best choice here would be a 24-70, possibly a 17-55, and some of the primes. The 18-55 probably isn't the best fish lens, but if you have a lot of light I am sure you can make it work.

With a Canon Xsi and a 100mm f/2.8 Macro, you will be good to go for coral. There are some other accessories which will make life sooooooo much easier for you though. Namely a good tripod and a good head to match. A remote shutter is more of a luxury, as you can use a timer. 95% of the time (if not more) I use a 100mm f/2.8 Macro, the camera is mounted on a tripod.

Thanks. I think I'll try the 100mm lens for now, as I'm new at this and am having a hard enough time dropping the money on the 100mm lens:) Ouch, I thought this one was pricey...until I looked up the other lenses you recommend.
