Ok, so I finally decided on dimensions...plenty of other decisions to make but at least I have a size down.

Display will be in our dining room while the sump/fuge and prop tank will all be in the garage.

System
-96longx28widex24tall
-Custom 3-sided starphire either by Miracles or Deep Sea Aquatics (opinions welcome)
-Euro-braced with holes drilled for 2x 1" sea swirls.
-4x250watt DE HQI's in Lumen max 3's
-Supplemental T5 lighting
-H&S external skimmer from Fins Reef (size to be determined)
-Reeflo Dart external pump.
-Manifold to feed several items
--GEO calc reactor
--TLF carbon
--TLF phos
--Prop tank, 30"x30"x12" acrylic tank with 1"sea swirl, tunze 6080 and 250watt DE HQI
-2 tunze 6105's (newer models) (and more added as system grows)
-Neptune AC3, 4 DC-8s
-Aquasurf
-Wireless router
-75g Sump
-75g Fuge
-2 or 3 titanium heaters hooked up to AC3
-20g tall for ATO feed into GEO kalk reactor by Litermeter 3
-Chiller, I'll need one but size and model to be determined.
-2"x2" tubular steel stand, anyone know someone in NC who can make this for me?

Currently have my 90g set up as QT.

The DT will sit on a wall in our dining room that shares a wall with the garage. I'm plumbing everything into the garage for easy maintenance. I'm going to vent the canopy into the garage and possibly straight outside, while replacing the vented air with cooler/dry air from air exchanger.

I also need to reinforce the floor as the tank will sit perpindicular (sp?) to the floor joists on a crawl space. This shouldn't present too much of an issue.

I still have tons to think about and the next step will be some photos of dining room and crawl space, followed by a drawing of the system.

Feedback on H&S external skimmer, entire house dehumidifier or just garage dehumidifier, Miracles or Deep Sea Aquatics are all welcome.

It has begun...

I have a 300 gallon DT, total water about 375, I have a artica 1/3hp chiller, and works great as far as handling temp on my tank

Decisions made and deposits paid.

Custom 300g tank from Miracles, 96x30x24. 3-sided starphire. One 26" center overflow with two 1.5" drains and three 1" returns. The outside returns will be routedd up over the euro-bracing to feed two 1" Sea-Swirls. The center return will be split into two via lockline.

Two Tunze 6105s on either end on aquasurf.

Custom 2" tubular steel stand from Miracles too.

Everything should be in before xmas, ~6 week turnaround. Anyways, more to come as I purchase equipment between now and then.

i have a 96 x 24 x 24 tank.
i have a Reeflo Dart for my return, and love it. the new ones with the larger reeflo motor are super quiet.
for lighting, i have 3-400w lights on spider reflectors. (i would upgrade the reflectors later. they came with the setup so i am not complaining, but there are better reflectors out there as mentioned)

i hope this helps you a little. good luck and i will be watching!!

I have about the same dimensions as you and I light it with 3 x lumenbright large pendents and it works great.

What are you planning to keep as livestock?
I moved from a 120 tall cube to the 280. I underestimated my desire for the large fish (tangs, angels, etc). My skimmer was a little undersized because of the bio-load I eventually wanted in the tank. If you plan on keeping these larger fish I would figure out which skimmer you want, and then buy the next larger model.

For some reason I really want an Achilles tang, and a school of regular lutetail anthias. Outside of that I'm wanting to stock some unusual fish that most hobbiests don't have. Any suggestions?

Coral this will be HEAVY sps with lps on the substrate. No rica/zoas/leathers.

H&S skimmers are fairly well rated, I'll either take a 500 or 600g rated skimmer. Fins will be helping me decide, going to see them in action first.

H&S A200-2x2001 purchased, will have it Dec 6th. Phoenix DE 250watt have arrived. Also picking up chiller, 75g fuge and possibly 90g sump next weekend.

Hey Zuluman, I'm finally on the board and getting excited about your build. Check out the website when you get 5 minutes.
