Marineland has a submersible LED strip light, so I used that in both sumps.

Hydor has a submersible variable color LED spot, that's the size of a US quarter, and I used that in my ATO reservoirs. I had to cut the power cord to feed the light through a hole in the top of my reservoir tanks, but splicing it back was easy enough.

UPDATE & tank failure

UPDATE & tank failure

Here's a video of my tank with my new video camera. By way of an update, at 2300 hours on Saturday, 21 March 2015, the seal on the right side tank blew out. I lost almost everything, but managed to save a few fish and some corals. All my adult angels perished.

Fortunately, the good folks at Marineland were a pleasure to work with. They compensated me for all of our losses, and the replacement tank was delivered this past Thursday, 30 April 2015. Now working on getting the tank back up and running. I plan on making this a dedicated SPS tank, low nutrient, starboard bottom. Stay tuned.

Oh, I am unable to spell...

Bummer, that's great that Marineland compensated you for the loss. Great video by the way. I have a 240g DD tank sitting in my garage. Looking at this video makes me want to set it up now.

Yes, I have to say that Marineland was very helpful and quick to respond to my warranty claims. The failure occurred late on a Saturday night, and of course they were closed on Sunday, so 1st thing Monday morning I sent an email in. Got a response in about an hour, and from that point forward I had a dedicated claims rep on the phone with me walking me through the process. They were very responsive to my claim, and no hassles whatsoever. I never got a hint that they intended to anything other than make it right for me.

Recent updates. Since the seam on one of my 250's failed, Marineland has replaced the tank and stand, and have compensated me for my losses. I started the new tank after I returned from a safari in Namibia, and the cycle is in process. Ammonia and nitrites are zero, but now I am battling cyano, just one of the fun things about a new tank.

The new tank will be an SPS dominated tank.

Just installed a Korallin Biodenitrator (suffer denitrator) to my 250 softy tank. Nitrates were in the 80-90 range, and water changes were not having much of an effect. Interestingly, phosphate levels are near zero. I am hopeful this will make a difference.

Also have a LifeReef calcium reactor on order from Jeff for the other 250. The tank is fully cycled, and I plan on dedicating that tank to SPS

I really like you tanks, look great. You must have a lot of patience to be able to start fresh a few times after some issues! I don't know if I could do it!!!

David,

Does your Harlequin Tusk leave the smaller fish alone like the Clowns? And he doesn't eat the corals?

Hi. Im Chris. I was reading your posts on the dual 250 setup you have. Totally amazing.

My issue is this. I have the dual 110G with monterey setup going and one of my tanks failed.

I ended up buying a new one because marineland wouldnt warranty mine because I "modified the stand" - i needed a hole drilled and they said it stressed the tank which is a joke.
I had the rear seal blow out on mine.

I was curious if you can send me some photos on what your rear seals looked like so I know what to look for or expect when buying the dual 250 setup soon.

Can you or anyone show me some photos of the side of the tank and monterey stand also?

Thanks!
