Dual nano tank

Hi all. I'd like to share my tank.

I have a dual nano tank connected to a single sump.
Running for 5 months. I started the hobby in 2002 but failed miserably. Came back in the hobby during the middle of the year (June), and it feels vindicative that I have not lost a single coral since the tank was set up this time around. Lol.

I am from the Philippines, and the hobby is not as advanced as it is in the US, where you can get anything. I can't even find a proper magnet cleaner in here for my bowfront tank.. Most of the corals I have were from Singapore, Hong Kong, and Bangkok because the selection here is terrible. My nitrates linger at around 0-5 and I have had many corals change color to become better looking.

The top tank is around 7 gallons, bowfront. Length is 24 inches.

The bottom tank is 20 gallons, 26" x 15.5" x 12".

Skimmer: Reef Octopus DNWB-110
PO4 Reactor: Kent Marine Nautilus with Rowaphos
Lighting system: 2 HO T5's for the top tank. 4 HO T5's with parabolic reflectors for the bottom tank.
Sump contains Chaeto and red mangroves.

Non-coral Inhabitants:

Top tank:
2 banggai cardinals and 4 flaming prawn goby
2 sexy shrimps
1 feather duster
2 nassarius snails, 1 turban snail.

Bottom tank:
Royal Gramma and a banded pipefish
Blue coral banded shrimp and a blood shrimp
2 halloween hermits
4 Nassarius snails and 2 turban snails

Beautiful!!Nicely done! I like the entire set up but I'm totally loving the bottom tank a lot more! Great coral selection and those sun corals added a nice vibrant pop of color which I love!! ;) Very pretty. Thanks for sharing Jols!

You've got a great looking system! Can you elaborate on plumbing? I'm planning a stacked system with a 33g and a 20L in the next week and want to know how you ran your overflow system.
I'm probably going to feed the top tank and dump into the bottom, overflowing into the sump. I would feed each tank off the return pump, but it's not big enough and my budget isn't big enough to fund a larger one as of now.

Thanks for the kind words, guys. Yeah, I agree that the supersun corals are the centerpieces of my tank - that's why they are my favorite. The colors are unrivaled by any other coral that can be found here. When I check your threads and see corals with so much color, it makes me feel duped because I know I can never buy any of those in here and that I'm forced to buy mediocre stock (or at least, second-rate compared to what's available to you guys). Hahahaha. In fact, I just checked ReeferChick85's past TOTM thread and the corals are just faint-worthy. Talk about being humbled!

BTW, to give you an idea how mediocre our corals in here locally, here's a picture of 2 corals when I got them.

Both of these became these:

If you look closely in my FTS, you will notice 2 acans that are grayish in color in front of the tank. Those are recently acquired, so the colors haven't changed yet. I see some red forming though, so I'm expecting for it to take only a few months before it turns red (like the acans posted in original post - that was gray when I got it as well).

I really wanted to go Phoenix MH 14000K bulbs, but what do you know? There's none available here. Even koralias are not available here so I had to opt for the SEIO propellers. Yeah, they do the job.. but they look more like surveilance cameras IMO. Haha.

The top tank is purely softies. I came to accept that there are just not enough colors to be found in the softies corals sold here. Also the lighting is not as good because there's only 2 bulbs. I'm not partial to this whitish/yellowish color, I really prefer the color produced by 3 blues and 1 20,000K. The bottom tank was supposed to be purely LPS as well.. that is until I ran out of space for some softies and am forced to place it there. LOL.

My plumbing is sooooo simple, you guys would probably make fun of it if you guys see it. Haha. I just have both my tanks flow to the sump, and a return pump at the other end of the sump, split with a T-pvc to feed both return pipes. Both pipes have a ball valve so I can control the flow. I originally thought about having the top tank overflow to the bottom tank, but I realized that micro bubbles would be an issue.

The trio (or is it quartet) of plate corals is so cool.
I have 5 short tentacled plates (1 oreange, 1 metallic blue, 1 dull orange with neon green tentacles, and 2 purple-rimmed) and 2 long tentacled plates (neon green with white tips)

Seen this tank or should I say these tanks in person and those pics don't do it justice! Very nice! One of the best local tanks here! :D

I think you're a touch too humble! Your coral health and selection makes for a very stunning tank. Thanks for the overflow info.
