Dual Reactor

Picking up a BRS Dual reactor today locally for a pretty good deal. I have a 120g Mixed. Suggestions on media? I see BRS has multiple types of GFO and carbon. I don't have any issues in my tank minus some hair algae.. Suggestions??

If you don't have a nutrient issue, then just run carbon. ROX 0.8 carbon from BRS is my go to.

There is no need to run GFO or the likes if your phosphates are not out of control.

I have a constant dose of NoPox on my system. Haven't checked levels for a couple weeks, but typically was around .04 for Phosphates (Went to 0, but I began feeding my coral a bit too much shrimp).

Do you run the carbon in both reactors or can I just fill a single one and leave the other empty?

You can leave one empty. The carbon side pushes water down through the carbon so to keep it compacted. If you put it in the GFO side, the water is pushed up from the bottom and would cause the carbon to grind against itself creating carbon dust, which is not good.

Just leave the GFO side empty until needed.
