Dumb and dumber

So, a week ago my wife bought a pair of diamondback gobies. Last night we watched them spend about an hour digging a hole under a rock to sleep in. This morning, there was about 2" of sand covering the entrance to the cave they built. Will dumb and dumber be able to get out or are they just as good as detritus at this point?

They should be able to get out.

Well, I siphoned the sand in front of their lair down to the glass to facilitate their escape but what was a pit around the entrance the evening before had filled in quite a bit. I instructed my wife to call me if she sees them today. But there was a lot of sand, they had to dig down pretty deep to get under that rock.

Yep they are doing fine. Just a little nervous. But they seem to get out every morning. We sure lucked out getting 2 that matched up right off the bat.
