Duncan coral question

I just got my 120 rebuilt and running earlier this summer. Last time I stocked it was in the mid 1990's so some things have changed and/or been forgotten.

Like Duncans. I don't remember these at all. A local guy gave me one head and I put it in last weekend. It already has three or four or new heads growing off which is all good, but did I just put a pest coral in my tank? I searched around and everything I find says they are easy and fast growing but no mention of them getting out of control.

I am just worried since I still have nightmares of yellow polyp colony and blue cloves that I scraped and scrubbed and glued and covered and burned without much success for over a decade. I have no desire to fight that battle again!

Duncans are okay, aren't they?

Thanks

You're ok. Duncans stay put and grow from their skeleton like frogspawn. They do not drop off tiny bits that appear elsewhere like some softies.

Good thing about lps is they are really easy to control- just frag them! But duncans imo is one of the least aggressive lps out there and very pretty to look at, nit to mention fast growing too

That's great news, thanks. I can almost see this thing growing so I was a bit worried. I didn't realize they grew on a skeleton like frogspawn. That's great since I can keep it pruned back.

Thanks for the input!
