Duncan Heads

Hey all. I am interested in getting some Duncan Heads. I have read some regarding feeding, lighting, and flow. Could you share with me on some of the parameters that Duncan Heads prefer.

Ohh, I have a 75g with a 20g Sump/Fuge. I use TrueLumen 48inch LED x2 for lighting, one strip runs full and other has been about 75%. Skimmer, of course. My last parameters are below :

Mg : 1280
Alk: 7.0
Ca: 430
Nitrate:0
Temp: 84 deg F
Salinity: 1.025
Ph: 8.0

Thanks much

Brian

Your temp seems a little high, but IME duncans like medium flow and mine have not been too picky on the light, they just don't respond well to hi flow. stability in salinity, like with most corals is also needed. GL Brian.

Mine have been a 'set it and forget it' coral. They respond well to feeding and grow pretty fast. Mine are in med light/ med flow and look great.

I have been fighting my Temp, around 84, for the last 2-3 weeks. The weather and my not wanting to use Air makes it hard to cool. With my Water Change just now, my temp is sitting at 80.5 and my Heater is set at 79 so hopefully my tank will stay around 80. My other parameters I believe are ok, so I am going to head down and pick up a head tomorrow at my LFS. I will post some pics when I pick mine up and if it does good I will grab the other few he has, he has had 3 or 4 frags for weeks.

I have duncan and have not been opened for 3 weeks since I bought them, do you know the reason?
You need way more details to have any kind of reasonable response. What are you r lighting, water params, flow, etc.

be careful with large temp swings. Many of the animals we keep are very sensitive to them. While I dont believe that dunc would perish due to a 3.5 to 3 degree shift in temp as it is very hardy, many animals will or get sick at the least. I would suggest trying to stabilize the temp prior to adding anything.

But good luck. Duncs are my favorite LPS, maybe acans too. I like em all really.

I agree with the Temp swings, +1 to that. I am hoping that my temp stays stable at or around 79-80 now that the warm weather broke. Anyways, I placed the Duncan the next day after my water change and my temp has been steady at 80, much better. Pics to follow.

Well, I am happy right now. Got home from my daughters track meet, and 4 hours after placing my Duncan in it is opening up. Pic is attached.

Fed my fish some brine today, the Duncan Heads loved it also. I hope that I continue to have positive results and growth from them.
