Duncan won't open?

Okay, the title isn't 100% accurate but the problem is. It only opens when the lights are off. Whenever I turn the lights on, I call see it's fully expended but within minutes. It goes back in.

Any thoughts?

I'm assuming that it's a fairly new coral for you? Duncans are finicky when you first get them. I have fragged mine numerous times and when I gave a head to a friend it didn't open for almost a month. He was getting ready to pull it out of his tank and it finally opened up and is now a 12 head colony. give it some time and check your parameters. It will adjust to the lighting schedule. If you've had this for awhile and it just started doing this, it may be getting ready to bud out. They act goofy when they do that the first couple times too. good luck!

It's too much when they don't swallow the food. They will hold it for a little bit, then let it go. That's when you know that they are full. My duncans love Med to High Flow. I have about 4 slightly different kinds. Good luck and keep up the good fight.

What lighting do you have? I ask this because I have 15 heads and when they were in my 180 they would never open, people told me there were dying to get rid of them. I dont give up on corals as long as there is flesh. So I took them and moved them to my 37 gal tall LPS tank and they open right up. Only difference is my 180 has 3-250w 20 K MH and the 37 gallon has 2 65w PC. So I sumed it up to lighting.
