I bought one of these (Duncanopsammia) from the frag swap and had a few questions about it,when I first put it in my tank it was open and looking good.I had it under vho lights and then it started looking bad and not opening so I moved it to my M.H. (400 watt)and saw no change.I will post some water parm. later just looking for some ideas.I've checked the internet and there seems to be some disparity in the lighting etc.

They are classified as a low to medium light, low to medium flow coral.

Mine are under PC lights. They are doing great. Target feed them a little and they grow like crazy.

They can be relatively picky at first, but I'd move it to a relatively shaded location and feed it mysis and stuff...it should come around :)

I bought the other frag right after you did. Mine is looking good and eating. I placed it on the sand bed.

We got there late and must have missed them. Who had them and do they (you) have any more? I am guessing that they are similar to sun polyps in feeding but need a bit more light?

Right now there under vho actintic and 6500k n.o.about (300 watts total florescense) in a 11" deep frag tank, I'll see if they come around.

They feed the same way. I think the duncans are much easier to feed because you don't have to wait for the polyps to open up. I think the Duncans were a great buy. Tubeastrea does not need any light and needs to be feed frozen foods like mysis, krill, or silversides to live. I'm sure there are other things it will eat. My suncoral expands but will not take food I'm having a hard time feeding it lately.

I picked up some suncoral from another reefer over the summer and it went through a spell where it would not eat as well. It seems to predict feeding when it gets fed regularly. Do Dendros do the same? I feed my sun coral fresh shrimp, mysis, and brineshrimp. It seems to do best when fed just before lights off and when it gets stimulated by teh fish eating. When the fish are full I target feed em.

Fed my Duncans and suncoral last night some Newlife Spectrum pellets by accident. They seemed to pick it up and eat it quicker than any frozen foods I usually feed.
