Durso Standpipe issue

Hey guys, I'm setting up a temporary tank for a few month. It has only 1 hole for drain pipe. Since it's temporary, I just built a Durso Standpipe for it.

now I'm having some issue after a few days of running. If the drain pipe is submerged under the sump water, the durso starts draining like a toilet in the overflow. It would fill all the way up, covering the 90 elbow pipe, then drain till it's almost empty.

If i leave the pipe out of water, waterfall sound is crazy loud. is there any other fix beside putting on a filter sock to catch some water? when the sock overflows, the overflow starts flooding and draining again.

The overflowing and draining messes with my sump water level.. which messes with my auto top off...

no elbows on the drain below the durso also. they can be problematic. the elbow can trap air creating back pressure and burping. some ppl can get away with a single 45* but 90's are almost always a problem.

try adjusting the depth of the durso exit in the sump. too deep= problems, too shallow causes noise.

but yes definitely need a bigger air hole in the durso to allow smoother flow vs the pressure creating a quick siphon/flush. you can also put a small jg style ball valve into the larger hole to better control the noise. i had a problem with them once before as they were drawing so much air it was WAY loud. i installed a hose barb 90* fitting and connected a hose to under the stand. this made it silent and less salt creep issues too in the air hole.
